Major threats to competition in Russia’s economy include state corporations, monopolies, and the clout exerted by major businesses. These are the findings of a new report from Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS), the Vedomosti newspaper reports on June 27th. A new Pew Research study on trends in online political news consumption shows that only 40 percent of all adults report getting news or information about the election via the Internet. Forty percent? The first sign I noticed was the guy with the shaky head. CBC Newsworld was covering the flooding of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and either unable to send their own reporter because of budget cuts or in need of American instruction on how you cover a major TV story these days, they opted for a live feed from NBC News.
